On Wednesday, Nov. 30, Babalu Tapas & Tacos will celebrate the one-year anniversary of its downtown Knoxville location and is encouraging longtime customers and those who have not yet tried the restaurant to join the party.
“We love being in Knoxville and appreciate the support from our friends and neighbors who share our love of fresh, handcrafted food and drinks,” said Dee Hust, Knoxville general manager. “To show our appreciation, on Nov. 30 we’re decorating the restaurant, handing out Babalu swag throughout the day and offering complimentary dessert to all diners while the birthday sweets last.”
In addition to the festivities in the restaurant, Babalu will host a social media giveaway. Fans and followers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram can check the Babalu pages for a chance to win gift cards and more.
The Knoxville restaurant is located at 412 S. Gay St., and is open daily at 11 a.m. for lunch and dinner. Closing times are 10 p.m. on Monday-Thursday; 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday; and 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Babalu Tapas & Tacos features an eclectic menu with Southern roots. The fresh and unique menu includes gourmet tacos and small plates such as Scottish salmon, Creole shrimp and grits, crab cakes and a mouthwatering Baba Burger.
Executive Chef Warren Weiss works with local partners and farmers to prepare the daily features with the freshest ingredients and integrate his local twist with the Babalu menu. The restaurant also has a full-service bar, including seasonal margaritas and other handcrafted specialty cocktails.
