Asbury Place top fundraising team at Foothills Alzheimer’s Tennessee Walk

September 27, 2017

Asbury Place in Maryville raised the most funds at the 2017 Foothills Alzheimer’s Tennessee Walk among corporate teams, earning the continuing care retirement community the grand prize award.

“Team Asbury” raised $6,002 for the annual fundraiser, which was held at Maryville College last spring and raised a total of $124,000. Teams continued fundraising efforts after the event, and the totals were announced in the fall.

In addition, Asbury Place had the largest team, which comprised residents, associates, family members and friends, and was awarded first place for its T-shirt design, “Memories are Worth Fighting For.”

“We’re proud of ‘Team Asbury’ for its commitment to not only walk, but also raise funds and bring more awareness to Alzheimer’s and help find a cure,” said Marjorie Shonnard, vice president of operations for Asbury Place. “Our team already is anticipating the 2018 event and looks forward to another successful walk.”

The 2018 Foothills Alzheimer’s Tennessee Walk is scheduled for Saturday, April 28, at Maryville College. The funds raised during the annual event help the organization serve those facing Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias; promote brain health through education; and champion global prevention and treatment efforts.
