Asbury Place to host national expert on innovative long-term care model

September 1, 2017

Public invited to free session on benefits of Household residences

In preparation for a fall opening of Tennessee’s first Household residences for long-term senior care, Asbury Place Continuing Care Retirement Community is hosting national expert Martin Dickmann of Action Pact, developer of the innovative culture of care focused on personal choice.

Martin Dickmann

The free information session takes place Thursday, Sept. 14, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Asbury Place clubhouse in Maryville, located at 2648 Sevierville Road. Guests may RSVP to 865-238-8301 or by visiting http://www.asburyplace.org/events.

Dickmann, the executive vice president of development for senior living consultant Action Pact, guides organizations across the country from the early stages of strategic planning through design and ultimately implementation of the Household model.

“If someone you love needs memory support or long-term care, we encourage you to come learn about a new choice at Asbury Place,” said Carolyn Neil, health care administrator for Asbury Place. “We’re glad that Martin Dickmann will be here to share with our guests how residents are thriving in this new environment.”

In the Household model, long-term care communities adopt a resident-centered approach that resembles life at home, while providing seniors with opportunities to direct their daily lives. It breaks down a traditional health care center into a home environment for smaller groups of residents with common kitchen, dining and living rooms and other spaces residents would find in a private house.

Asbury Place Maryville broke ground on its Household residences in June 2016, and construction will be completed this fall. The campus will have a long-term care Household with 22 rooms and two Households for memory support assisted-living, each with 22 rooms.
