AC Entertainment promotes Ted Heinig to vice president
AC Entertainment has promoted entertainment industry veteran Ted Heinig to vice president of the company. AC Entertainment is internationally recognized as an innovative leader in creating, producing, booking, and marketing first-class live entertainment experiences – from festivals and concerts to all types of special events.
Previously serving as AC Entertainment’s vice president of concerts, Heinig’s role will expand to oversee operations, including venue management and programming, event booking and production, promotion, marketing and sponsorships. Based at the company’s headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee, Heinig will work with venues and events across AC Entertainment’s footprint, including Knoxville, Nashville, Chattanooga, Asheville, Louisville and beyond.
“Ted Heinig was actually AC Entertainment’s first employee back in 1991, joining me and my original partner, Troy Sellers, in building the company from the beginning,” CEO and Founder Ashley Capps said. “He left for a few years to pursue an interest in managing bands, which of course added to his depth of knowledge and experience, and I lured him back in 2002, shortly after Bonnaroo was launched. The music business requires a tremendous commitment, and Ted has what it takes – the passion and dedication and relationship skills – and a deep respect from the industry. He’s been a leader at AC for some time, and his appointment to vice president is the obvious next step in AC’s continuing growth as a company.”
Heinig has led the AC Entertainment team in charge of booking venues that are theatre-sized and larger, focusing on exclusive relationships with the Bijou and Tennessee theatres in Knoxville, Tivoli Theatre in Chattanooga and Schermerhorn Symphony Center with the Nashville Symphony. In 2008, Heinig became the presenter for Broadway at the Tennessee in Knoxville, later presenting Broadway at the Tivoli in Chattanooga. Previously, Heinig spent six years as the founder and CEO of 26.2 Music, an artist management company.
Recently, Heinig worked with the 2019 Riverbend Festival in Chattanooga to book headline artists, including Keith Urban and Lionel Richie, for the new, reimagined event.
“My career started when I booked Stairway to Heaven at a University of Tennessee campus club in the fall of 1990,” Heinig said. “After that, I was hooked. And now, I get to be at home in Knoxville and work with the best team creating exciting live experiences for music and entertainment fans at cool and unique venues across the region. I’m excited about the future working with our incredible team at AC Entertainment.”
Originally from New Jersey, Heinig resides in West Knoxville with his wife, Caitlin, and daughters Cameron, Natalie and McLain. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing poker. He previously served on the board of the United Way of Greater Knoxville.
