When the Historic Tennessee Theatre Foundation contracted with Moxley Carmichael in June 2001, it was two years into a campaign to restore the Tennessee Theatre and had raised $7.4 million. By the time the theatre reopened in January 2005, Moxley Carmichael’s highly successful marketing and fundraising campaigns had dramatically helped the Foundation attain more than 99 percent of its $23.5 million goal.
Moxley Carmichael worked with the Foundation to concept, plan and execute the 2005 grand reopening celebration and Stars on Stage, a successful sustaining fundraiser that benefits the theatre, featuring top acts like Tony Bennett, Bill Cosby and
B.B. King.
Moxley Carmichael continues to work with the Foundation on special events, communications, advertising, fundraising and media and government relations.
Moxley Carmichael worked with Southern Living magazine on a feature (at left) with photos showcasing the restoration. In November 2007, the magazine ran a three-page article headlined "A Mighty Theater" and highlighted the theatre's impact on Knoxville's downtown revitalization.
