Moxley Carmichael was initially engaged to help usher the Knoxville Symphony
Orchestra into a new era. The organization was at a crossroads, facing a
monumental task of introducing a new music director to the community for the first time in 18 years.
Currently, Moxley Carmichael takes an active role in creating and implementing the KSO's marketing and communications strategies. This
includes publicity for performances and outreach programs as well as the
design, writing and production of many marketing pieces for the KSO,
including concert series brochures, programs and print advertisements.
Formally established in 1935, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra consists of
84 virtuoso musicians under the leadership of Lucas Richman. The KSO
performs more than 200 times per year to a total audience of more than
160,000 people. It is the oldest continuing orchestra in the southeastern
U.S. and is recognized as one of the nation's finest musical ensembles of its size.
