The East Tennessee Wellness Roundtable (ETWR), which strives to create cultures of wellness at companies and organizations, has recognized Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC) with gold status.
A gold designation means KCDC exemplifies “excellence in worksite wellness,” according to ETWR, and will receive new workout gear for its gym from the wellness group.
“We take investing in our employees seriously and trying to be the best version of ourselves that we can be,” said KCDC CEO and Executive Director Ben Bentley, who announced the award at the Board of Commissioners meeting in May. “One piece of that is health, and I think our human resources staff does a great job of encouraging those initiatives.”
KCDC, which offers a gym and fitness class with a certified personal trainer, had applied to earn gold status for its Healthy Track program. Employees can work out during breaks and after work until 7 p.m.
The new items in the gym include: 15-pound weighted bar; 20-pound weighted bar; two exercise steps; 6-pound medicine ball; set of 3 kettlebells; set of 3 dumbbells; yoga mats; yoga blocks; foam roller; two balance balls; resistance bands; two jump ropes; and cleaning wipes.
ETWR is a member-based collaboration of area professionals who promote healthy practices in the workplace.
