Steel recycler Gerdau has named Christopher Arnwine as 2014 Employee of the Year at its Knoxville mill. The maintenance mechanic was nominated by coworkers and selected by the administration in recognition of his outstanding work ethic and infectious positive attitude.
Arnwine was honored at a company dinner along with the Employee of the Month winners.
“These employees are nominated by their peers for their individual contributions to our entire team’s success,” said Johnny Miller, vice president and general manager of the Gerdau steel mill in Knoxville’s Lonsdale neighborhood. “For Chris to win top honors for the year is quite an achievement.”
During the nomination process, coworkers praised Arnwine for his “can-do” outlook, willingness to pitch in on projects and ability to anticipate the needs of coworkers. One of Arnwine’s three nominations was signed by more than 20 people. He has worked for Gerdau since 2008.
“His coworkers clearly are inspired by Chris, who can be counted on to work hard and do it with a smile and a laugh,” Miller said. “I’m proud of our entire team and appreciate them for nominating Chris for this recognition.”
