Adoption special focus on labs, lab mixes

This weekend, Young-Williams Animal Center is celebrating ‘Lab-or’ Day with an adoption special on all Labradors and lab mixes.

In 2013, Labradors and lab mixes accounted for 9 percent of the dog intake at Young-Williams, which made them the second-highest breed behind pit bull terriers and pit mixes.

“There is no better way to enjoy a long weekend than with a new pet,” Jeff Ashin, Young-Williams Animal Center CEO, said. “We’re hoping lots of people in our community will choose to adopt a Labrador or lab mix this weekend. Labor Day recognizes the strength of America’s workforce. It also means a chance to relax and have fun, so it’s the perfect time to add a new furry member to the family.”

From Friday, Aug. 29, through Monday, Sept. 1, adoption fees for adult and senior dogs who are Labradors or lab mixes will be reduced. Community members will be able to adopt adults for $37.50 and seniors for $25.

Every adopted animal receives the same services covered by the regular adoption fees, which include a veterinary physical exam, spay/neuter surgery, some standard vaccinations, a microchip with registration and more. The adoption prices will be available at Young-Williams Animal Center at 3201 Division St., off Sutherland Avenue, and the Young-Williams Animal Village at 6400 Kingston Pike on Bearden Hill.
