FUEL STATEMENT FROM PILOT SEPT. 15
September 15, 2008

We at Pilot understand the concern our customers feel about the high cost of gas at retail locations across the country created by the market disruptions due to Hurricane Gustav and now Hurricane Ike.

Our first concern has been to assure that our customers have fuel to buy, and we have worked overtime to make sure we have product available. Unfortunately, the wholesale cost of gas has increased over this time and this factored with the transportation of fuel from further areas than normal has resulted in an overall increase in cost. There have been times over the past five days when we have been selling gasoline at BELOW the average cost we paid for it.

We believe the situation is temporary. While we are still waiting to hear about all of the impacts to refineries and pipelines from Ike, we expect the daily (or spot) market for fuel to start coming down this week. We look forward to being able to purchase our petroleum products at a lower cost, which we will pass along to our customers.

Just like during Hurricane Katrina, we have received numerous requests for additional information regarding retail prices and wholesale costs from various states. We intend to comply and cooperate fully with these requests and look forward to working with these states. We feel very comfortable that the company’s pricing philosophy is commensurate with state laws.
