KCDC HONORS PAST RESIDENT COMMISSIONER

Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC) recently honored Sandra “Sandy” A. Jones for her service on the KCDC board of commissioners.

Jones served for two years as the resident commissioner, representing resident interests in KCDC affairs.

At KCDC’s June board meeting, Executive Director and CEO Alvin Nance and Board Chairman Craig Griffith presented Jones with a certificate of appreciation. Griffith also read a proclamation from Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam declaring June 29, 2008, “Sandy Jones Day.”

“It was so nice to work with the board of commissioners, and I learned a lot about KCDC. I hadn’t realized how much the board does,” Jones said at the presentation. “I am so proud to have served on it. Your new resident commissioner, Norman Watkins, will do a good job.” “Mrs. Jones will be greatly missed,” said Nance. “Her 30 years of property management experience and her understanding of the day-to-day operations of rental properties made her a valuable representative on the KCDC board of commissioners.”

KCDC is the housing authority and redevelopment agency for Knoxville. Since 1936, KCDC has been dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of Knoxville. For more information, visit http://www.kcdc.org.
