Covenant Platinum Awards

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 22, 2008

COVENANT PLATINUM AWARD WINNERS LIVING LIFE TO THE FULLEST
Deadline for Nominations Extended Two Weeks

John Craig has been described as “a man in the know, always on the go” and “a human dynamo.” That’s why, at 88 years of age, he was added to the list of senior citizens honored by Covenant Health as role models for a new generation.

Long after the time in his life when he would be eligible for high school football trophies or military medals for valor, Craig was called on stage before a crowd of 800 people as a glowing example of how good life can be in later years. He received the honor at the 2006 Covenant Platinum Awards gala based on a nomination submitted by Barbara Aston-Wash.

“For his infinite humanitarianism - his love and concern for his wife, his kindnesses to family, friends and neighbors, his church involvement, his civic and community service, his dedication to keeping himself fit so he can be of service to others - he deserves to be a Platinum Award Winner!” exclaimed Aston-Wash.

The judges agreed.

From his gardening and landscaping, to his fitness routine and church work, to the Chrismon ornaments and thousands of apple stack cakes he’s helped his wife make, John Craig fit the profile of someone who puts the plus in 65 plus.

“And that’s exactly what we’re looking for,” says Covenant Health Vice President of Senior Services Stan Boling. “We want to hear about senior citizens who are making the effort to make life better for themselves and everyone around them.”

Covenant Health is calling for nominations for the 2008 Covenant Platinum Awards. All it takes to nominating a senior is letter explaining how a person is living life to the fullest after age 65 attached to an entry form.

“We can never have too many nominees,” says Boling. “When the nominations start pouring in and we read about what seniors are doing in their communities, we want to hear more.”

The deadline for nominations has been extended to June 13. Official nomination forms are available through the mail by calling (865) 541-4500 or printable from the Covenant Health Web site at http://www.covenanthealth.com.
